Adolescence is a time of cognitive and emotional growth
|
Adolescence is the transitional period between childhood and adulthood. It is a time when individuals acquire a host of skills and experiences that will serve them well as adults. In addition to the physical changes that mark adolescence, individuals in this stage undergo important changes in how they understand and navigate their social worlds. Dr. Shulman's research examines how social understanding and decision-making evolve during this transitional period. Her work seeks to clarify the ways in which adolescents (sometimes) are and (sometimes) are not adult-like in their thinking and behavior, thereby informing efforts to promote positive developmental outcomes.
